What type of battery is used in Ola S1 electric vehicle?

In all three models of Ola S1, lithium-ion batteries are used. It has IP67 ratings and an advanced Battery Management System (BMS) that helps in energy distribution and power management. In three models of Ola S1, these are the battery specification.

• Ola S1 Pro – 4 kWh.
• Ola S1 – 3 kWh.
• Ola S1 Air – 3 kWh.

When you buy a new battery for any electric vehicle, this means that you are paying a collective amount of money for 3-5 years of fuel. And electric vehicles are still cheaper because, on average, in India, a two-wheeler owner spends about 3000 rupees per month, makes the amount Rs 36,000/yearly and 108,000 for three years, and the money you will spend replacing the battery is under Rs 50,000 in the future.

Battery replacement costs of Ola S1.

A guy shared some images of Ola electric batteries on Twitter. And it blew the Ola electric community. Most vehicle owners were shocked after looking at the price of only batteries.

A 4 kWh battery costs Rs 87,298, and a 3 kWh battery costs 66,549. Well, I am pretty confident that hardy 10%-20% of people will replace their battery because of paying Rs 20,000 – Rs 30,000; they can get a brand new scooter with warranties.

Ola Electric has to lower the price, and I am quite sure they definitely will, or I think this price tag is just a gimmick.

Apart from this, one of my friends recently got an electric scooter TVS iQube, and after asking from the showroom, the battery replacement cost is between Rs 20,000 – Rs 21,000. And this is a decent price, even compared to ICE vehicle annual maintenance.

I figured out the 3-year maintenance cost of the Honda Activa, which was approximately Rs 18,000, including the tire replacement. And not all people will replace their vehicle battery after 3 years. This duration can increase or decrease how much an individual use the vehicle.
