How to maintain your inverter and battery?
To maintain your inverter for longer shelf life, here are some tips that you need to do:
- Use high-quality and reputable brands.
- Install the inverter at a place where airflow is better.
- Regularly clean it to avoid dust and rust settling on the terminals.
- Change battery water regularly.
- Use your inverter for at least 3-4 months for 5-15 minutes, and avoid deep discharging.
- Use energy-efficient electrical appliances to get maximum output.
- Do not use high-power-consuming devices such as AC on your inverter if it is small.
- Ensure the quality of the wires is good to lower the electric resistance and avoid any electric hazards.
How often should it be done?
The inverter automatically works when there’s any power cut or electric maintenance in the area. If you have not used your inverter in the past 3 months, then make sure to switch off the main line, use it for about 15-30 minutes, let the battery get discharge 30% – 40%, and then let it charge.
Heavy users may also need to perform maintenance once a week or every 15 days. The maintenance includes these three steps.
- Cleaning the inverter and battery with an airbrush or a cloth.
- Checking the wires of input and output.
- Checking the battery levels.
Anyone do these steps cab, and if you find any problem, you can call the electrician to fix it.
Things to do with your inverters and battery to maintain it.
In the beginning, I mentioned some tips about maintaining the inverter and battery. I have explained them in detail so that it would be easy for you to understand.
Buy branded products.
Whether it’s an online or offline market, choose a trustworthy product. An inverter and battery should be from a reputable brand and have a warranty plan. Avoid investing in cheaper alternatives because they may get malfunction or could handle the load of your electric appliance.
Make space for the inverter and battery.
Because of its size, the battery takes more place than the inverter, so you must keep it in a good place with no moisture or dust. To clean it, you can use a brush or a cloth to avoid settling dirt and rust on the terminals.
Check the battery water level.
In inverter batteries, distilled water is used, and the more you use the batteries, the quicker you have to fill them again. Regularly check the water levels weekly or monthly to avoid battery heating issues.
Use quality wires and electrical appliances.
When you use quality products, it increases the efficiency of the inverter. Using high-quality wires reduces the chances of short circuits and wire heating. Also, using efficient led bulbs and home appliances can increase battery life.
