I got an HP Pavilion n207tx laptop, which is 11 years old; this is the 5th time I am replacing my laptop’s battery. OEM Manufacturer
OEM is not any brand but is known as Original Equipment Manufacturer, which means the original product for the original device. In the case of laptop companies like HP, Apple, and Dell, they produce and sell original batteries for the device.
I have seen most people, to save money, buy a cheap and local brand battery that does not run very well, and within a short period, it gets damaged, or its charge cycle gets reduced.
OEM batteries should be your first choice when replacing your laptop’s battery. You can buy them from the nearby laptop store or computer retail store.
Where can you can you buy OEM batteries?
In India, most cities have retail stores of companies. By going there, you can directly get an original battery. If the specific model battery is unavailable, you can place the order by giving some advance, and within 2-3 days, you can get your product.
Other than that, check your laptop brand’s website, where you can place the order. Also, take a look at the product’s e-commerce site.
Note: While buying laptop batteries from E-commerce sites, please check reviews and, if possible, look for a review video that any user has made. As most electronic products come with no replacement policy, it is highly recommended to do in-depth research to avoid any financial loss.
Lapcare
I have personally used Lapcare products in the past. Lapcare is India’s largest third-party laptop battery manufacturer. The company’s products are available in remote areas, small towns, and online stores.
Regarding the quality, I have purchased two laptop batteries from this brand. I was unsatisfied with the quality; the batteries stopped working after a year.
However, what I do like about these batteries is their price. They are very affordable and can last for about a year. After that, they lose their charge capacity and only last 1-2 hours, no matter how much you charge them.

Winstar is a new Indian brand founded in 2018 that specializes in laptop accessories. So far, based on my research about this brand, I have not found any negative feedback from its customers. However, there are always ifs and buts.
The most popular laptop batteries from this brand are for Dell laptops, so if you are looking for a new third-party battery, you can find one from Winstar. Other than that, it also offers batteries and other accessories for brands like Apple, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, etc.

Winstar can compete with Lapcare, but I think it will take some time as this brand needs to focus more on marketing and customer support.

Another old brand that has been in the market for two decades, situated in Delhi, is Laplife. As I went through this brand, I noticed it has a dedicated page for Apple products. Most people don’t buy third-party Apple products; they prefer original ones. However, after learning about Laplife, you might consider buying laptop batteries from this brand.
Other than laptop batteries, Laplife also manufactures chargers and cables. To my knowledge, most people who own Dell, Acer, and Sony laptops have purchased third-party laptop batteries from this brand.

Out of the other brands mentioned here, Laptrix is the only one that manufactures only laptop batteries. Aside from that, there are no other products from this brand. Additionally, when I searched for its official website, I found no mention of it online.
Initially, I had many doubts about the products of this brand, but after carefully examining the battery models, I found that they are mostly compatible with older brands. For example, one of the batteries was compatible with my old HP laptop, and the price was much lower than what I found at local shops.
You can consider buying a laptop battery from this brand, but just be aware that customer support may not meet your expectations. So, purchase at your own risk!

From the name itself, it is clear that Fugen is a Chinese brand. Although Fugen has the second highest market share regarding laptop batteries after Lapcare, the main reason for this is its low price and good quality batteries, which can last about a year or more.
Apart from this, this brand has products like chargers, cooling pads, USB adapters, and more. The most purchased battery from Fugen is for the Compaq laptop, which is an old brand of HP that was discontinued in 2013.

Which brand’s battery should you choose for your laptop?
The best battery for any laptop is undoubtedly the OEM battery. The battery produced by the original manufacturer will always be number one.
However, for older laptop models, there is a 5% to 10% chance of finding the original battery, as the company may have stopped manufacturing them.
Recently, when I chatted with an HP customer executive via email, he informed me that they stop manufacturing OEM laptop batteries 5 to 6 years after the launch of a model. Since most laptops have a lifespan of 5 to 8 years, companies focus on introducing new models, leading to the discontinuation of OEM batteries after about 5 years.
If you are looking to buy a third-party battery, make sure to consider brands like Lapcare and Fugen. If you cannot find the battery for your laptop, you can also explore other brands.
How to replace a laptop battery?
I used to change my laptop battery on my own as it was easy to remove it, just unlock the battery and replace it with a new one.
I would never suggest replacing your laptop’s battery at home. Most laptops now have built-in batteries, and removing them requires careful handling, as the battery is connected with wires and glue.
This task should only be performed by an expert or technician. If you purchased your battery from an online platform, you might need to pay ₹100-200 for the replacement. However, if you buy it from a nearby store, they mostly replace the battery for free.
